Celebrate Mother’s Day: Chiropractic Care for Expecting Moms, Children – or Both!

Celebrating Mother’s Day is a pastime we greatly applaud every May. Even though mom’s deserve recognition every day of the year, this is the time we set apart to focus our efforts entirely on a mother’s tireless input into her child’s life.

At Willoughby Family Chiropractic Clinic, we believe in caring for the entire family. This includes expecting mothers and infants. Which is why we offer Pregnancy Chiropractic Care and Pediatric Chiropractic Care here at our Langley office. Helping moms-to-be care for their health, as well as their new infants adjust to their new reality after a potentially strenuous journey.

The Benefit of Pregnancy Chiropractic Care

We understand that an expecting mother’s pregnancy can grow increasingly uncomfortable as the months progress. But this doesn’t always have to be the case.

As mentioned on our Pregnancy Care page:

Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy helps to establish balance in the mother’s pelvis. The mother’s spine and pelvis undergo many changes and adaptations to compensate for the growing baby – which puts stress on the spine. Specific chiropractic care throughout pregnancy works by enhancing nervous system function, providing greater health potential for both the mother and her baby.

The goal of the adjustments is to reduce the effects of sacral/pelvic joint dysfunction. In doing so to improve the function in the pelvis joints throughout pregnancy, helping assist expecting mothers as they progress.

Understanding Chiropractic Care for Your Child

Having your infant checked after they are born, in order to assess their spine and skull, is something many mothers opt for.

Implementing this healthy habit from birth, to rolling over, to sitting up, crawling, standing etc. will help set the stage for their skeletal growth and health moving forward.

Chiropractors use very specific and gentle techniques when working with children. In the very young, the adjustment is as light as a finger touch. Infants often sleep through their adjustment and older children willingly relax and enjoy the care.

If you have been curious about chiropractic care – perhaps this Mother’s Day is the right time to consider introducing this whole-body care into your routine. It may help you as a new mom’s find relief, and for your infant as well.
