Dr. Mitch Spooner – DC, MS

Mitch Chiro website

Dr. Mitch Spooner has always had a passion for athletics. He grew up playing a large variety of different sports until he decided to focus on hockey. He spent four years playing in the Western Hockey League for the Vancouver Giants, Regina Pats, and Seattle Thunderbirds. Throughout his sports career he regularly went to a sports chiropractor for maintenance care. It wasn’t until he started suffering from a series of concussions, that he became more aware of the benefits that chiropractic care can provide. This sparked Dr. Spooner’s interest to work in the healthcare field where he can provide individualized care, and treat the cause of the problem, rather than just the symptom itself. As such, Dr. Spooner has a keen interest in sports injuries, nutrition, rehabilitation therapy, and wellness care for patients in all walks of life.

Dr. Spooner completed his Bachelors of Science in Biology with Honours at Trinity Western University. He was quickly accepted into University of Western States in Portland, Oregon where he graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic with a Masters of Science in Sports Medicine. During his time in Portland, particularly in association with the Sports Medicine program, Dr. Spooner worked at numerous events including triathlons, youth soccer tournaments and wheelchair tennis events as well as helping out with high school sports such as football, basketball and soccer. Working these events and getting to treat different athletes at different ages and skill levels helped Mitch expand his skill set and gain valuable experience treating all areas of the body and not just the back.

In his personal life, Dr. Spooner enjoys spending time adventuring with his dog Tessy, who you will see in the office, as well as hiking, reading, skiing, cooking, Formula 1, and playing tennis and hockey.

Dr. Spooner has experience treating patients from all walks of life, whether you’re a high level athlete, pregnant, or a child at Willoughby Family Chiropractic.
